Housekeeping tips for various Odour issues
So you are a Housekeeper at a hotel and have an Ozone Generator on site, every day you are faced with many different types of Odour removal challenges. Obviously, putting the Ozone machine into the room is the quickest way to turn these rooms around. However, there are a few extra protocols that you could introduce that will enable the area to be treated more efficiently.
With over 13 years of experience in demonstrating our equipment, with many Odour challenges faced alongside consultations with our clients, we are experienced how to remove tough Odours quickly and efficiently.
I have outlined below a few tips that will help you remove these Odours from all areas of the room, especially the hard to reach areas, for 3 of the most common Odour complaints.
Smoke
-
Ensure all windows are closed and AC is off
-
Open access to all areas of treated area such as bathroom doors are open
-
Fully draw the netting behind the curtain
-
Half draw the curtains (this lets the curtains and nets to be treated)
-
We recommend that the mattress has no sheets or bedding as this prevents the Ozone permeating the mattress where the smoke can accumulate, remember the bedding is clean, therefore no need for deodorisation.
-
Cupboards and draws to be left open as smoke will enter these areas and the wood will soak up any trace of smoke
-
Put the Ozone Generator on for the advised time. (This information guideline should be provided to you by your supplier as to how long to put the machine on in accordance with the room size.)
Vomit
-
Clear up the mess as quickly as possible
-
Leave to dry as there will probably be some mildew from the shampooing or washing of the furnishing
-
Follow process for smoke as the bacteria in vomit becomes airborne immediately and will get into the hard to reach areas very quickly
Damp
-
Dry the damp area as quickly as possible whether naturally or with a dehumidifier
-
Fungus and mildew spores will very quickly become airborne
-
If possible, open the window in order to disperse the spores from the air – this will reduce the amount of fungus or mildew spores that need to be treated
-
However, the spores will sit on and contaminate the furnishings in the room, including all the hard to reach places
-
Follow process for smoke
